See budget summary of the latest year. Also read Economic Survey. Follow discussions on budget on television, newspapers, etc after the budget presentation in the Lok Sabha.

Major crops cropping patterns in various parts of the country, different types of irrigation and irrigation systems storage, transport and marketing of agricultural produce and issues and related constraints; e-technology in the aid of farmers

Major crops and cropping pattern: Geography NCERTs, analyse the issues related to it like agroclimatisation of crops, issues related to water scarcity, mismatch in demand and supply of several commodities like vegetable oil, pulses, etc. Also see this report for agriculture along with the latest Annual Report.

For all of these topics, the latest report of Ministry of Agriculture can be followed. Some of the topics I prepared were for my optional subject (economics) and were done from the book “Indian Economy: Performance and Policies — Uma Kapila”. But if your optional is not economics, then you may simply do these from my consolidated notes in the link given below.

Food processing and related industries in India- scope and significance, location, upstream and downstream requirements, supply chain management

Again, there should be a section in Ministry of Agriculture’s report, and in the Economic Survey. Use internet to read about new schemes like Mega-food parks, etc.

Land reforms in India

This can be done from internet and a relevant chapters from Bipan Chandra’s “India Since Independence”. My consolidated notes are below. Also see my economics optional paper 2 notes for the relevant notes.

Effects of liberalization on the economy, changes in industrial policy and their effects on industrial growth

For this, I used Uma Kapila. You can carefully pick up some of the relevant notes from my economics optional paper 2 notes. Also, see the Economic Survey Vol 2 for latest facts and figures. Do these topics which are recently in news: Make in India, SEZ policy, New Foreign Trade Policy, New Wage Code Bill, etc.

Infrastructure: Energy, Ports, Roads, Airports, Railways etc.

No special preparation. Follow current affairs. Analyse issues in development of Indian infrastructure, possible challenges (technological, financial, social, etc) and their solutions.

Investment models

Internet. See my consolidated notes below. Make sure you understand the differences amongst various models (eg HAM, BOT, EPC, Swiss Challenge, etc).

Science and Technology- developments and their applications and effects in everyday life
• Achievements of Indians in science & technology; indigenization of technology and developing new
technology
• Awareness in the fields of IT, Space, Computers, robotics, nano-technology, bio-technology and issues relating to intellectual property rights

See recent happenings in these fields. Try to see basics of whatever is in news. You can use Wikipedia here. See my notes below.

I used Vajiram’s Yellow book for these topics. Also, Ministry of Home Affairs’ Annual Report (Internal Security section) should be done — very important. Current events are very important — follow topics like fake news, cybersecurity, fake currency, Hawala, drug menace, flesh trade, loopholes in our laws, cybermilitarisation, etc. Try to also watch The Big Picture on RSTV to learn how to analyse these issues. Lastly, you may want to see my consolidated notes below.
